And all that!

Well, Andrew and James returned from Chicago yesterday. All in all, I think they had a nice trip. Andrew complained about the amenities at the hotel, no free Wi-fi, pay to park, in hotel restaurant too expensive, just to name a few. They visited the zoo, a couple of museums, and some local sight seeing. The convention was pretty good, according to Andrew. They didn’t take any pictures! Can’t be my child! LOL!

While the boys were in Chicago, the apartment management group called and left a message that their application had been approved on the apartment! Yeah! They go today to set up the move in date! I’m really excited for them! I might have them a “house warming” party. Or not, they seem to think they have everything they need, and they are pretty picky about their “house wares”. We’ll see!

Last week we welcomed Andi Mae to the family! 8 pounds, 3 ounces and 18 ½ inches long! Mya and I stopped to see her Friday afternoon, and after seeing Ki, who is almost 2, Andi looks so small. I think she looks a lot like Maddi, but has Graci’s complexion. Mya was funny, her and mom had been earlier that day to see Laura and the baby, so when I picked Mya up Friday, I was asking her about the baby. I asked her if she had hair, and she said no, well mom said, “Yes, she has hair”, so then Mya told me she has a little bit of hair, like Daddy! Also, I asked Mya what the baby’s name is, and she said, “Raggedy”. Mom and I looked a little puzzled, and asked her again, and again, she said Raggedy. Well, mom said again, “No, her name isn’t Raggedy, it’s Andi”. That’s when Mya said, “Yes, like Raggedy Andy!” How stupid of us to not know that! :-) While we were visiting, I had to take Andi’s feet out so I could look them over (I love baby feet!) and in doing so, I had to undress her to get to her feet. Mya spotted the umbilical cord and said, “Oh no! She has a splinter in her belly!” It’s funny and amazing how kids have their own ideas of what things are and how things work. I love it!

Mom has been planning a back yard camp out with the younger grandkids, but because of the all the rain we’ve been having, we just haven’t had a suitable weekend for it. Well, this past weekend mom decided the weather would be nice for camping. Mom set up two tents in the back yard, fixed a fire pit for cooking hot dogs and roasting marshmallows, and let everyone know the camping adventure would start just before dark. Since I wasn’t sure if Stacey was going to stay and help, I told mom that I would come and stay so she wouldn’t have all 6 little ones by herself. The girls played and ran around the yard and had a good time! We got the fire started, cooked the hot dogs and laid out our blanket for a picnic style dinner. After eating, at this point it was really dark, Mya decided she didn’t want to camp, she missed her Daddy. I asked her several times if she wanted to go home, and she insisted that she missed her Daddy and wanted to go home to be with him. Well, I loaded up our sleeping bags and pillows and we were headed for the house (at that point in time, it appeared Stacey would be staying, so I didn’t feel so bad about leaving). About the time I pulled out of the drive way, Mya said, “I’ll go camping now!” I told her that we were going to go on home and see Daddy. The next day I called mom to see how the rest of the night went, and she told me that Stacey ended up leaving and taking Alyssa home as well. So, Mom ended up with the 4 bigger girls by herself. I think everyone had a great time. I just hope Mya will stay for the next camping adventure. I think it’s great that Mamaw does these things with the kids. I want Mya to have the good memories of growing up with Mamaw like we did.

TTFN!
