We finally received our new Blackberry’s in the mail yesterday! Yahoo! I was so excited! As soon as we got settled in at home, I immediately opened the boxes to get the phones out. And to my surprise, I didn’t have to wait until today to take it for activation, I can do it online! Even better! I rushed to the computer to get the phones activated, the sooner I could play the better! Well, I entered all my info and then received a message telling me that since we’re upgrading our plan, I would need to call the 1-800 number, or do a live chat. I immediately picked up the phone to call. Here’s where my trouble starts… “If you are calling from the phone that you are upgrading from, or if you are calling from the phone you are upgrading to, please hang up and call back on a different phone.” Guess what? We don’t have a home phone, we only use our cell phones! Now what am I going to do? Oh wait, I can still do the live chat! Away I went! I get the chat person connected with me, give her all the same info I had already entered when I went online, and she says, “since you’re current plan doesn’t end until August 19th, you will have to wait until August 20th to upgrade your plan.” WHAT?!?! I can’t wait that long! Well, we could have picked the option where we are pro-rated for each plan and make the switch now, but we really didn’t want to do that. Now we have Blackberry’s, with the media plan, and I have to wait 3 more weeks to use it! I’m counting down the days!
Andrew called me last night to tell me he and James found an apartment! In a decent neighborhood! And at a reasonable rate! When I went with them a couple of weeks ago, we looked at an apartment in this same complex, and they are very nice, with lots of room. Although I didn’t see the exact one they will get, Andrew told me this one was even nicer than the one we looked at. I’m so excited for them since they’ve been looking for several months now. I hope everything goes through with the application. Also, Andrew goes for a job interview, tomorrow, in Indiana. It’s just across the river so it’s close to campus. Keep your fingers crossed for them!
Last night Mom called to tell us that Laura has lost her plug! Won’t be long now we will have a new addition to the family! And, wouldn’t you know it, it’s another girl! Right now we have 13 girls and 7 boys, as far as Mom and Dad’s grandkids. Andi Mae will be joining our family in the very near future! And, we have 2 more coming in the spring of 2010! These 2 will be mom’s first great grandchildren! That means I’ll be a great Aunt. :-( Which also means I’m getting old! Hmm, I never thought of it that way. Oh well, you’re only as old as you feel! I feel pretty young today!

Odds and Ends
For some reason I just can’t seem to get enough sleep this week. Maybe it’s all the rainy days we’ve had, I’m not sure. All I know is when the alarm clock goes off in the morning, I’m not ready to get up. Bob and I take turns hitting the snooze, hoping to get a few extra minutes. Of course, it always seems you’re in your deepest sleep in between snoozes, so getting back up to turn the clock off is even harder.
Mya received some nice gifts this week. Susanne brought her a harmonica from Emily’s Gymboree class. Mya loves her harmonica! I’m not sure how much mom likes it since she’s the one that has to listen to it all day! LOL! Since Papaw plays the harmonica, or French harp, as he calls it, Mya loves to take hers over and play with Papaw Pete. I really need to get pictures of that! I have pictures of Mya and Andrew playing their guitars together, but I think that’s the only “musical” pictures I have. Mya really thought she was something playing her “electric” guitar that looks real similar to Andrew’s Warlock. Okay, I wondered off there, see what I mean about my mind clutter! Back to the gifts! Earlier in the week, Lisa called and told mom to ask us to stop by, she had Mya’s belated birthday present. We stopped and lo and behold, it was an umbrella! Mya loved it! For some reason she’s had a strange fascination with umbrella’s lately. We assume it’s because Maddi brought hers over and they played together with Maddi’s. All we’ve heard from Mya, before getting the umbrella from Joe and Lisa is that Santa Claus is going to bring her an umbrella, and one day she informed me that the Tooth Fairy will leave an umbrella for her when her teeth fall out. Oh well! Thanks Joe and Lisa! Now we have to pack Mya’s harmonica and umbrella in her bag that goes with her to moms each morning. I think her bag is going to have to turn into a large suitcase!
We’re still working on the Home Of The Innocents project, see our blog at http://operationhappinessandhope.blogspot.com/. We’re trying to see how many people will be interested in playing in a corn hole tournament. So far we have about 6 people that have committed to playing. We still need more people! My goal is to get at least 10 teams.
Andrew and James are still apartment hunting! Anyone know of anyone that has an apartment or house for rent? Cheap? And in a good neighborhood?
Well, to get with the times, I opened and started a Face Book account yesterday! Jenny was the one that got me started on Face Book months ago, but I only set up an account, I didn’t do anything with it. Since I haven’t talked to Jenny in a long time, I decided to go see if I could find her on there, well, lo and behold, there she was, as well as so many people I went to school with, so I invited some high school classmates, as well as a couple of teachers I had, to be my friends. Can’t wait to see who accepts me!

First Trip To The Library
Took Mya for her first trip to the library! She was so excited to go, and I was excited for her. Well, to my surprise, when we arrive at the library and went to the children’s section, they had toys! So much for my excitement for Mya to get her first library card and browse through the books! She could have cared less about the books, she was busy playing. I did pick out a few books to bring home with us, and as we were about to leave the area, Mya did grab a Sesame Street book, because “that’s her favorite”. We go to the desk to check out our books, and officially sign Mya up for her first library card, and guess what? Mya can’t get a card until she’s able to write her name. I did ask, “she can write her M, does that count?” It didn’t! Oh well, when I got my card updated, they gave me a regular card, and also a key chain card. I will just tell Mya the key chain card is hers. So, in all, the trip to the library didn’t go as well as expected, but we got books so that’s all that matters I suppose!
Apartment Hunting
It’s scary enough when kids move out on their own, but when you actually go apartment hunting with them and see the areas they can afford, it’s down right frightening! Yesterday I went apartment hunting with Andrew and James, and in order to find something affordable, we went to some very “interesting” areas. There were a couple of places where I didn’t even want to get out of the car! Of course, I have to keep my fears to myself, to a degree, they’re ready to move out and move on with their lives, and I have to remind myself, they’re adults, not children. It still doesn’t mean I’m going to rest easy if they choose one of the least attractive areas. We did look at one very nice apartment, lots and lots of space, with affordable rent. I’m keeping my fingers crossed they get an opportunity to put an application in at this place!
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
In order to “think” away the bedtime fright, I encouraged Mya to think about something more positive, like Santa Claus! Well, not being old enough to comprehend time, Mya automatically assumed Santa would be here soon! And, he’s going to bring her, Alyssa and Makenna an umbrella, a lollipop (with purple dots and sparklies), and a sucker. Apparently, the encouragement to think of something else worked, the next morning Mya jumped up out of bed and immediately said, “Where’s Santa Claus!?! Maybe he’s downstairs! Let’s go see if he brought the lollipop with the purple dots and sparklies!”. Mya was very disappointed when I explained to her that it would be a while before Santa would come. Next time I will have to tell her think about something that’s not so far out in the future.

A New Plooh!
We finally convinced Mya into trading in her baby Pooh (she calls it her Plooh) blanket for one that is more suitable to her size. Yeah! Although I’m not thrilled with the looks of her new snuggly blanket, it is much nicer than hearing the temper tantrums because her old Plooh isn’t large enough to cover her feet. With the new Plooh, as with the old, she has to carry it around, and it goes where we go. Out With The Old, and In With The Plooh! LOL!

My Baby Boy
It’s hard to believe my baby boy will soon be 22. I know, at 22, they’re hardly babies, but as any mom would understand, they will always be babies in our hearts. It just seems like only a few years ago Andrew was getting ready for his first day of school. :-( Now he’s in his 4th year of college. An amazing artist (see pictures) and hopefully a soon to be published author! I couldn’t be more proud! For his birthday he is taking a long, weekend trip to Chicago for a comic book convention. I’m a little nervous about his trip. I know he’s an adult, but I can still worry about his safety. I’m his mom, that’s my job!
